Hello Sahara Desert Tour!

We begin day one of our Sahara Desert tour with Marrakech. The goal for today is Skoura. Our journey takes us on a scenic climb through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in North Africa.

We’ll pull over at an Argan Cooperative, a place where products such as argan oil and cosmetics are made. There will also be a complimentary tasting!

Our next stop is steeped in history and grandeur – Kasbah Telouet. This former residence of the Glaoui dynasty stands as a testament to a bygone era. We’ll get to wander through its crumbling yet majestic halls.

We continue our journey towards Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a location that has graced the silver screen in countless movies. We’ll delve into its rich history, learning about the lives of the Berbers who once called it home and the roles it has played in various cinematic masterpieces.

Finally, we’ll reach Skoura, also known as the “Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs.” As day one draws to a close, we carry with us the echoes of ancient kasbahs, the lingering taste of argan oil, and the promise of more adventures to come in the days ahead.

Morocco's Beautiful Valleys

On the second day of our Sahara Desert tour (the best private tour Morocco has to offer), we wake up in Skoura.

Our adventure delves deeper into the Valley of Roses, where breathtaking pink seas of rose bushes await. We’ll get a chance to witness the ancient process of turning these blooms into valuable rose water at a local distillery.

For the adventurous, a detour leads us to the slopes of Mount Mgoun. Here, nomadic families reside in cave dwellings, offering a glimpse into their distinct way of life.

As the afternoon sun dips, we’ll go on a journey through the Dades Valley. Hiking through towering cliffs, we’ll get to marvel at these intricate rock formations.

Finally, we reach our charming guest house nestled in the heart of the Dades Valley. As we settle in, memories dance in our minds: the impressive kasbahs, the fragrant rose fields, the welcoming smiles of the nomads, and the awe-inspiring Dades Gorge. With content hearts and a thirst for more adventure, we drift off to sleep, anticipation blooming for tomorrow’s wonders.

Journey to the Sahara Desert

Day three starts as we say goodbye to Dades Valley. Time to head to the Merzouga Sahara Desert!

Our first stop is Erfoud, a town known for its fossils! Moving on, we reach Rissani. Here, we dive into history by exploring the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Sharif, and the old Ksar, a traditional fortified village that takes us back in time.

With the afternoon sun giving the sky warm colors, we hit Khamlia village, home to the Gnaoua people. Getting into their unique culture, we’ll enjoy an hour of captivating Gnaoua Trance music – a mesmerizing mix of spiritual beats and lively melodies.

Finally, we arrive at Merzouga, the doorstep to the Sahara Desert. Just before the sun sets, we hop on camels for a magical ride into the heart of the Erg Chebbi Dunes.

As the last sunlight disappears, turning the sky into a fiery masterpiece, we get to our desert camp. In the peaceful dunes’ quiet, we gather around a crackling fire, enjoying a tasty dinner under a sky full of stars. With each bite, we taste the flavors of Morocco, and with each twinkling star, we feel the magic of the desert. 2 more exciting days of this private Morocco tour package ahead of us!

The Real Sahara Desert Tour

Day four of our private Sahara Desert tour dawns with the gentle whispers of the desert wind. We might choose to go on an adventurous quad bike ride, weaving through the golden waves of the Erg Chebbi. Alternatively, a 4×4 expedition might be our preference, allowing us to delve deeper into the desert’s secrets, guided by experienced hands and accompanied by the rhythmic hum of the engine.

By afternoon, we’ll bid farewell to the Merzouga Desert. Our journey continues towards the Saghro & Atlas Mountains, where the charming Berber village of Ait Ouzzine awaits. Nestled amidst breathtaking scenery, this village offers a glimpse into the authentic Berber life.

Upon arrival, we’re welcomed by a local Berber family, their warm smiles and open hearts setting the stage for an unforgettable afternoon. We’ll even get to participate in a traditional cooking class. We’ll also get the chance to get intricate henna designs painted on our hands and feet. As we delve deeper into their traditions, we’ll learn about the art of creating mesmerizing Berber perfumes and the significance of their unique spices. Finally, before departing for Ouarzazate, we’ll get a chance to try the famous Moroccan mint tea.

We will spend the night in a riad in Ouarzazate.

From the Desert to Palmeraie de Skoura

With the question of what to see in Morocco in 5 days almost answered, the last day beckons, and with it, the bittersweet realization that our Moroccan adventure draws to a close. As we depart Ouarzazate, the majestic Atlas Mountains stand tall in our rearview mirror, their snow-capped peaks a reminder of the diverse landscapes we’ve encountered. Our journey winds through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass, retracing our steps from days prior, but with a heart richer with experiences and a mind brimming with memories.

A Moroccan gem awaits us – the Oasis of Fint. A one-hour walk along winding paths will take us past traditional houses and sparkling streams, culminating in a refreshing cup of tea shared with a local family.

Next stop: Atlas Film Studios. We’ll step into a cinematic wonderland. Film sets from iconic movies like “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones” come alive, transporting us to different worlds and reminding us of the magic of storytelling.

We continue our ascent through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. For those seeking one last historical encounter, Kasbah Taourirt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as our final stop, its fortified walls whispering tales of dynasties and battles.

Finally, Marrakech welcomes us back with its bustling energy and vibrant colors. Our adventure has come to an end, but don’t worry! Next time don’t search for “Morocco 5 days”, or “Morocco travel itinerary 5 days” – search for Sahara Guided Tours!
