First Day in Morocco - Casablanca to Marrakech
Our 2 weeks in Morocco starts in Casablanca, we will visit the renowned Hassan II Mosque, a masterpiece designed by French architect Michel Pinseau.
Next we head on to Rabat, where we will spend the night.
Morocco's Historical Monuments
On day two of our 2 weeks Morocco tour, we will go on a guided historical tour of Rabat, we will explore its domes, minarets, and green spaces. Highlights include the Almohad northern walls of the Oudaïa Kasbah, the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, and the Necropolis of Chellah.
We will then head to Meknes for a panoramic view of the old Islamic medina, Royal Stables, Agdal Reservoir, and Bab el Mansour Gate. Our journey continues to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled amidst the rolling hills of Morocco. Our day ends in Fes, where we will rest and get ready for day 3!
What Fes Has to Offer
Though we are going from Casablanca to Marrakech, nothing is stopping us from exploring Fes! We will visit the Royal Palace, Jewish Mellah, and Ibn Danan Jewish Synagogue. The tour includes the Dyers souk, Tannery, Weavers Cooperative, Mausoleum, University of Kairaouine, Nejjarine Square, and the Bou Inania Medersa.
What Fes Has to Offer: Part Two
Our day of discovery in Fes unfolds as we venture into the majestic palaces and Andalusian Gardens. The journey begins with a visit to the Batha Museum, a treasure trove of 19th-century artifacts, showcasing pottery, leatherwork, books, and manuscripts. Immerse yourself in the rich history that this museum encapsulates, set against the backdrop of a green, spacious courtyard.
Palais Mokri, also known as “El Mokri Palace,” awaits our exploration. Constructed around 1906, this architectural gem covers about 220 meters of Fasis design and lush gardens.
Our journey continues to the Jnan S’bil Garden, an Andalusian oasis. Amidst aromatic blooms and calming surroundings, we’ll delve into the allure of this botanical area, where nature and artistry coalesce.
Les Jardins De Biehn, our final destination, promises a visual feast. This Andalusian Garden invites exploration of its enchanting landscapes and architectural nuances.
Full of emotions, we’ll return to our hotel, where we will spend the night.
A Journey Through the Middle Atlas
Our day unfolds with a mesmerizing journey through the Middle Atlas, a region that promises diverse landscapes. Our first stop is Ifrane, often dubbed “Little Switzerland,” where Swiss-style architecture harmonizes with the Moroccan terrain.
Continuing our journey, we will traverse a cedar forest, encountering lively Barbary monkeys. Azrou unfolds before us, a town surrounded by orange and olive groves, offering a glimpse into the agricultural richness of the region.
As we venture deeper into the Middle Atlas, we pass Midelt, a town nestled at the foot of the mountains, known for its cereals and distinctive history. Our path then leads us to Erfoud, where we’ll get a chance to explore the unique geological wonders that have shaped the landscape.
Our journey reaches its zenith in Rissani, a town steeped in history and charm, setting the stage for our final destination—Merzouga. Here, the shifting sands of the Sahara Desert beckon time for a guided camel trek into the Erg Chebbi Dunes! As the sun descends, we find ourselves enveloped in the magical hues of the desert, culminating in an unforgettable night under the stars at a desert camp.
Merzouga to Skoura
On day 6 of our two weeks in Morocco, we will go on an immersive exploration of Merzouga’s Sahara, a realm where golden dunes and boundless landscapes weave tales of time. We’ll venture into Rissani, a town rich in history, followed by Erfoud.
Continuing our journey, we’ll arrive at the enchanting village of Ait Ouzzine, nestled within the Middle Atlas Mountains. This Berber village, with its crenulated kasbahs and traditional way of life, unfolds its charm as we engage with over 300 families living amidst henna fields, water wells, and gardens.
Post-lunch, we’ll go on a drive through the Draa Valley, tracing the ancient caravan route that once connected the Draa Region to Marrakech.
As the day unfolds, we’ll find our way to Skoura, a place full of palm groves and the famed Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs.
Marrakech History Tour
Today we will delve into the heart of Skoura, a place known for its “Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs.” Our quest unveils the intricate tapestry of ancient fortresses, each narrating tales of Berber history and architectural splendor. The best vacation Morocco has to offer!
Our adventure extends to the nearby Valley of Roses. We’ll pause here to witness the process of rose distillation in the Capp et Florale factories. These small kasbah towns produce the nation’s eau de rose.
Continuing our journey, we will travel through the rugged charm of the Valley of Nomads, encountering a nomadic family living harmoniously in the mountainous region.
In the afternoon, we will go to the captivating Dades Valley. The day’s adventures culminate with a well-deserved break—a restful overnight stay at a carefully selected riad in Skoura.
Skoura to Marrakech
On day 8 of our trip to Morocco, our adventure takes a captivating turn as we explore the renowned Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Next, while we traverse through the picturesque landscapes of the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass, we’ll ascend through mountainous barriers, where Mediterranean and desert influences converge. The journey becomes not just a passage but a scenic spectacle, with olive groves of the Oued Zat unfolding before our eyes.
A delightful interlude awaits as we indulge in local Moroccan fare made with fresh, argan oil. Our culinary experience will be heightened by a visit to an argan cooperative, where skilled Berber women craft argan oil, butter, and cosmetics by hand. The cooperative, a testament to women’s empowerment, provides a fascinating glimpse into traditional production methods.
Day 8 culminates in Marrakech, where we will spend the night.
A Day in Marrakech
Casablanca to Marrakech- We made it! Our exploration of Marrakech unfolds with a visit to the enchanting Majorelle Gardens, a masterpiece of botanical artistry created by Jacques Majorelle. We’ll stroll through vibrant walkways, admire exotic plants, and soak in the captivating atmosphere.
Next on our itinerary is the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in Marrakech, standing tall with its remarkable minaret.
Venturing into the historic Jewish Mellah, we’ll uncover the cultural tapestry woven through its streets and immerse ourselves in the lively old spice market.
Our journey then leads to the El Bahia Palace, a testament to 19th-century Eastern architecture. We’ll get to explore intricately designed courtyards and rooms adorned with exquisite details, offering a glimpse into the lives of the city’s elite.
The day concludes with a visit to the Saadian Tombs, a hidden gem rediscovered in 1917. Our day of cultural marvels wraps up, hopefully leaving indelible impressions of Marrakech’s rich and diverse heritage.
A Day in Marrakech: Part Two
We will start the day off with a Marrakech cooking class, the afternoon is intended for relaxation. We will have the option to visit La Mamounia Gardens or the House of Photography. Djemaa El Fna Square awaits in the evening for a lively adventure.
Day 10 concludes in Marrakech, where we will spend the night before the last day of our Morocco adventure.
Casablanca to Marrakech Conclusion
Concluding our 11 days in Morocco, we will have breakfast at the hotel before departing for Casablanca’s airport. Safe travels!
